I think we are looking at this differently. I see faith as a force that can get things done. It's not the same as asking, begging, pleading, for a lollipop from a mean daddy. Jesus said whatever you ask in My name, believing, it will be done for you. There are a couple catches such as it must be in accordance with God's will which is very broad. I think it is in God's will that those people be spared the hurricane's destruction. Also it should not be for our own gratification, "God give me a million dollars". The problem was maybe enough did not think of the potential disaster and pray for the thing to die out before it hit land. If enough had thought to do it and prayed the thing would have fizzled. The cares of this world often blind us to the more important things.
