I am verifying two bits of information that I picked up on the net. The first, I was told Canada (or certain brokers) do not have the uptick rule that is used in the US. The stock must ‘up tick' before a short sale can be made. This obviously can work against you if the price continually drops after the open and goes well below your anticipated target price.

The second, shares can be shorted against with out actually being borrowed. This will enable me to get in on more trades. I was thinking of setting up a Canadian account while being a US citizen and trading US Stocks. Nothing against Canadian stocks…. just know more about US issues (mainly, NASDAQ).

Thanks for all of the information so far, its been a real helpful.

Jim
