<<Intel stock began trading in the late 1980s>>

not true - Paul lost a bundle (% wise) on it in '74.

Tommaso - Re: ' That's truly remarkable, since personal computers did not exist in the 1970s, and since Intel stock began trading in the late 1980s. "

You are truly remarkable in your seemingly complete ignorance.

Intel went public October 13, 1971 at a price of $23.50 per share or 7.7 cents adjusted for 11 subsequent stock splits. I bought my first in November, 1974.

The first personal computer, often credited to being the Altair 8800, was released in January, 1975.

The Apple II was released in 1977.

Radio Shack, and myriad of others offered personal computers in the late 1970s.

How big is the rock you live under? Or, were you just born yesterday?
