Delbert,
Whew! That is a very intolerant post! I have to admit that we are commanded to preach the gospel to all creation. That makes christianity a very "in your face" religion. I would say though that christianity is not the worst religion out there. How about Islam that teaches that to kill an infidel is a good deed?

If you want the right to choose an abortion how can you deny freedom of religion and association? If you want a free society you are going to have to listen to some things you don't like! It works both ways! I have to listen to Sam!! He has the courage of his convictions even though what he says is IMO heresy.

What about the benefits of christianity in our culture. Steve the historian should consider this. Trace the path of christianity since the first century and also the advancement of civilization. I admit that there have been bad times in Europe in the last 2,000 years such as the dark ages. I attribute that to a lack of knowledge. Ignorance and poverty are brothers. The catholic church turned into a cult and became a tyranny over the people trying to stomp out the true gospel of Jesus Christ, but the gospel prevailed. The country most founded on christian principles, though not perfect, has been the most prosperous in history. The USA has reached an unprecedented zenith. "Where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty". This country has seen the most freedom ever. This is the only country in history that fought a bloody and costly war to end slavery! Slavery has been a reality throughout history but the United States put an end to it and showed the whole world that it is wrong. And it has not seemed to get the credit for that either.

Well, I am raving. What else did you say?

<<How come god didn't get these laws right the first time. Come on. The guy that made the whole Universe?>>

He did get them right. The whole world is in the first grade so God can't start with physics, He has to start with 2+2=4. It was for education.

<<Why would your god, who so much desires constant admiration and therefore belief in himself, make it so confoundingly difficult to understand the Bible, to the point that scholars that spend their entire lives studying it can't come to an understanding of what it really says? Isn't that grossly unfair to the mentally challenged? They wouldn't have the same shot at getting into heaven that you and Emile have.>>

Look at this writing by Paul showing His frustration with teaching christians. Hebrews 5:12 "For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for one to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food." Imagine the problem today with christianity when there are no teachers like Paul around. The new christian is the babe and gets fed "milk". 2+2. It takes time before more difficult teaching comes. If you are unsaved you have not even had milk yet you want to understand the most difficult things first and without the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you. It's not possible.

The word of God is an "onion". The outer layers are simple leading to the inner more complex. The message of salvation is simple. "Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved". That is the simplicity of Christ. You have the same chance as everyone else for salvation. But you want to know the end from the beginning.
Paul wrote in Corinthians 1:22-23 "For indeed Jews ask for signs, and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness," You seek wisdom and Christ crucified is foolishness to you. But today is the day of your salvation, meaning as long as it is today (any day). "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart - that is, the word of faith" Romans 10:8. You have the same chance.
