Their customers probably don't telling AMAT their precise 0.25 micron ramp-up plans. Also, I didn't actually listen to the conference call myself, but am just passing along notes from the AMAT thread:

However, my guess would be that these are mostly sales for immediate use at 0.25 micron. The industry appears to have more 0.35 micron capacity than it needs already--see the discussions on this thread about overcapacity and ASPs. If the equipment weren't going to be used at 0.25 micron until next year, the companies would probably wait to buy it until next year.
