Sig & Rudedog: Sounds like CPQ is tapdancing thru a room full of rattlesnakes with their transition. Meanwhile all Dell has to do is more of the same.

Sig, I couldn't agree more! Some time ago I laid out a potential threat to Dell through the acquisition of Gateway. The point was to establish a "fighting" brand (as is commonly done in the hosiery business). That way a competitor could have his cake (direct sales) and eat it too (selling through channels) by using separately branded machines.
