Harvey, I am aware of Lo-Jack, which communicates with a satellite. However, Lo-Jack does not have a satellite-operated kill switch; it just finds the vehicle, and the vehicle has to be reported for the company to turn on the device to give its position.

I remember seeing an experiment televised on one of the TV news magazines, where as soon as the car was reported stolen, the kill switch was activated by satellite but don't know what company was working on that.

I believe that the new car computers will be an integrated communication system--the radio, the cell phone, global positioning, internet-data access, the works in other words.

Do you know which company is providing the device to which you refer?

>>I would put that device on every teenager's car, allowing parents to preprogram accepted travel zones and time of return. <<

Add to it posted speeds vs. actual car speed and parents of teenagers would buy them like hotcakes!
