<China> Yuan 'will not be devalued next year'.

Lee:
A bit of good news for the markets and also good for DELL.Recently though the U.S Commerce Undersecretary William something or the other accused China of devaluing its currency by proxy, anyway he accused China of extending subsidies to its export oriented companies thereby devaluing the Yuan by proxy. This really pissed of the Chinese and there was quite a ruckus about it in Kuala Lumpur.

Yuan 'will not be devalued next year'

VIVIEN PIK-KWAN CHAN in Kuala Lumpur

The yuan will not be devalued next year and ensuring its stability was a long-term commitment, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan indicated yesterday.

Throughout 1998, Beijing has upheld its pledge not to devalue. But some Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (Apec) countries are worried that, as the financial crisis deepens, it may have to devalue next year to alleviate economic pressure.

However, following the Apec leaders' summit, Mr Tang said the stability of the yuan would be maintained.

"Judging from all factors, there is no need to change or abandon this decision, and this strategy will be upheld," he said.

thank you lee **OFF TOPIC** "internuts"
lee, what i am struggling with, is whether the best strategic brains of say, an amazon type, have a higher level of awareness of some futuristic need delivery system, than even the people at say Dell... i have always believed in EXTREME focus... coming up with products, even products and/or services does not seem to be what is troubling my brain....i seem to be worried about the internet interface with the client, being best studied where absoutely the best internet interface brains are, and where the pressure is the greatest...like the pressure under wartime conditions, to have developed a necessary product or service for the military. I know it is a SIMPLISTIC THOUGHT on my part, but i wish Dell would move all their internet brains to Seattle, and leave the factories in Austin. please don't anyone get angry with me, i'm just trying to reach for something to help Dell. I know I've said this before; we will never be through with brilliant stuff coming out of the seattle area. communicating over the internet is fine--with video i know...i just wanted to present to the brilliant minds here, that what is way ahead for dell, is a kind of interface with the internet, which will be best defined where the pressure and brains and money and living conditions are ideal....am i making any sense at all?....even a tiny tiny bit?
