Rick,
thanks for Your response.

TLTN today announced new products. IFC (Mark Johnson) mentioned TLTN as a nice provider of "convergence" tools aimed at telcos to save $$$ on the Voice/Data disparity. Reason for my investment. Not the quarter (0.41) but twofold. Analysts still only have 0.16 earnings on display for next quarter. So if TLTN only earned the numbers ORIGINALLY expected for this quarter (0.26) it would justify an upgrade by some analysts. Today evening is a converence call, that could provide clues in this direction. The other motivitation for my investment is the share repurchase, another $8 million should be bought back on open market. Would lower outstanding to 5.8 million shares.

Will look at PIR. From memory, isn't that Pier-1-imports ?? If it is, I have a positive bias towards the company. When I visited JDN in Fla. back in February, the CEO was interviewed by Mark HAynes on CNBC. My impression, as tiger-currencies (where they source 80% of their merchandise) devalue, they'd make even more profit. Will analyze it FA & TA wise.

Noticed the runup in HICO & AMUT recently ?? Can't believe my eyes, have no fundamental reason for this. Wonder what's happening. Are You still into any of them ??

Regarding EBSC & Xmas, I didn't want to sell my TLTN earlier than that. Stats for November should be released on Dec 5th. Maybe Your mother could provide us an idea what the new EBSC xMAS store setup looks like in reality - if possible ! No pun intended !

best regards

Rick,
PIR is good. Looked at it. What I like:

FA:
PSR at 0.90. And that won'T include the fact that overall sales are 9% this year over last. If You trend these factors in, Sales for FY98 should be $1705 million. I think they can reach the consensus 0.19 for November. Next quarter could even bring an upside surprise (projection of 0.24 is too conservative IMHO)
9% growth rate, 6% net margin, really not bad IMHO. Current ratio is 3.5, so the're sitting on a pile of cash. Debt/Equity smallish at 0.35.
Good for acquisitions. Net purchase (bought-sold) by institutions in last 3 months: 3.6 million, that's 5% of the float (86 million)
Company is innovative regarding financial engineering. They just administered a DRIP-plan and a direct-share purchase plan. That's the forefront - although brokers won't like it

TA:
my favourable graph: a gap up then a retracement, near bottom.

My opinion on PIR: Buy now near $10. If I'd funds left I would do immediately. But I consider rolling some AMD/CPQ into this..
Target, mid-term $20,

Suggested strategy: buy before Nov. earnings (released in Dec.). If any good runup, wait til day of earnings announcement and sell before quarterly is out. If not, wait til after announcement. I don't think they should surprise neither up nor down.. (0.19 cents estimate)

My own trick here:
will buy PIR first (til earnings) then sell, then buy EBSC sell again and buy PIR again -> earnings plays ! <g>

Rick,
regarding TLTN, well institutional ownership is not so thing. Just look to the last proxy solicitation. I spotted 25-30% institutionals in the stock. We will see what may come out of this..

Thanks again for mentioning PIR. Do You have any idea when they will report earnings for the Q3 ??

best regards

Rick,
thank You for Your tip - EGGS. Chances are very high that I got filled at least 1 of my 3 orders for this in Germany for around $14. That was before opening in the US. That means I have a good chance to bank in the 20% gain today in this stock. Seems to be the cheapes internet stock. No debt, financial relations already in place (Nasdaq listing, history etc.) Implied PSR of 1.5. All other portal sites got PSR of 10 or more. I love this company <g>

best regards
