TGPTNDR, Linux is not yet ready for prime time. Right now it is a billing system for linux gurus who can get $100+ per hour for installs and other stuff. However if you pick a restricted set of apps, like the Corel suite, and stick to them once you have a stable setup you might get away with secretaries running it???, and we all know how good apache is if you want to run a web server. What linux needs is to get away from this x gui and get one that offers windows like visuals and ease of use along with a good install mechanism. the rpm is not acceptable for general use, it needs a knowledgeable person as every different monitor, mouse, network card etc needs drivers. Linux has far more drivers than NT and it can probe many components, sort of like PNP. For 100 known identical configurations it makes sense for a network as long as people are restricted from trying to addtheir own apps, unless they are knowledgeable.
At a recent Toronto install fest our group(the Toronto Linux group ( tlug.ss.org ) installed 76 systems for newbs. A mixture of Red Hat, Slackware and Debian. Went quite well.
For those who wish to look further here are a few lynx.
