11/19 20:57 MCI WorldCom plans $500 mln start-up fund

LONDON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - MCI WorldCom <WCOM.O> is expected to
announce imminently a $500 million fund to invest in start-up companies as a
way to stay in touch with the rapid changes in telecommunications and internet
technologies, the Financial Times said on Friday.

The paper reported that the U.S. company was also planning to provide money
to companies building their own networks.

Will the break out continue, or might we see some contraction today? The DSL announcement along with Sidgemore's comments may have placed our wcom in with the internet group in the minds of some investors?
