RobertK, there seems to be some contradiction between your statements: I do not accept that bpi neutralizes cytokines. Fair enough. This calls into question, however, your posting the journal abstract that contained the following excerpt: Bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein (BPI), a human neutrophil granule protein, has been shown to bind lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and neutralize LPS-mediated cytokine production in adherent monocytes and the whole-blood system.
