Expect L M Ericsson to come to terms with QUALCOMM sooner rather than later. It is simply too expensive for L M Ericsson to delay further. They have gained all the upper hand they can possibly expect to get with GSM. They are losing ground on CDMA daily. The longer they wait, the worse the terms they will have to meet. China's cdmaOne systems going on hold has been misinterpreted as a vote for GSM. It is really a political infighting delay together with a negotiating delay while they wait for cdmaOne and cdma2000 costs to drop further. There is a very rapid drop in cdmaOne infrastructure and handset prices occurring along with a rapid improvement in functionality, so it makes sense to just make do with GSM and analogue systems for a while longer. By competing with the Japanese, USA, Brazilian and other cdmaOne infrastructure buyers, the Chinese would have to pay more. By waiting until capacity increases and USA buildouts are largely complete, they get cheaper prices and better quality. GSM has got about as much geographical coverage as it is going to get. VW-40 is about to be identified as a naked king. The Chinese might as well wait for 3G to be decided. To say that it was blundering around off course is silly. It was a deliberate provocation and test of Russian air defences. My brother was a 747 captain and points out that you don't be off course like that. There are way stations all along the track where position confirmation is required. There are dirty great red warnings on maps for places not to go over like Russian military bases. The Koreans took the trouble to ensure the captain of that 747 was the chief pilot who used to fly the Korean political bosses around - no mere beginner. The flight was delayed for 'technical reasons' which were to ensure timing with monitoring satellites. The Russians did not accept that the flight could continue, ignoring their defences, so shot it down. Pretty harsh jungle rules, but that's what happens if you do naughty things in provocation of military people. Try being an unarmed student at Kent State University or a child in a religious crank hideout in Waco or a 'student' in Tienanmen Square So immediately after the uproar, the Russians flew an airliner over a French secret military base and ignored warnings. Of course there was a lot of frothing at the mouth by the West over that 'provocation' but they thought better of shooting it down! The Russians would have enjoyed the free spying mission. It's naive to think the Korean's top pilots don't know how to fly their 747's on course. Rajala - to call people 'goddam orphans' is repulsive. I don't believe you are involved in ethical giving of aid unless you are paid a goodly sum. You seem to have contempt for too many people.
