Paul, check out Baron Robertson's course at elitetrader.com, where he speaks to those issues in great detail. It's only $199, it's online, and he's constantly updating it with new chapters. It will give you more than many courses costing ten times that and more, IMHO.

He's also an MBT user.

It's very possible you weren't looking at REAL, real-time information on DELL when you attempted your executions. I've seen multi second delays on feeds on this monster. And the ECNs can't keep up so what you see isn't what you'll get.

Have you tried similar executions on less psycho-maniacal stocks?
