Berney,

I think it is premature to call PAIR DOA when they still show positive earnings and are putting money in the bank. Look at companies like WDC and MU -- they should be worse off than PAIR but because they are likely to lose less money next year than they did this year their stocks have gone through the roof! What PAIR needs to make the investment community happy is a couple of losing quarters so we can grow out of it!

Seriously, you must have noticed that the frequency of rollouts of xDSL by RBOCs and CLECs has increased lately, and even if PAIR only gets some of the business this will lead to EPS growth.

Greg

Hi Berney and if you bought anytime over the past couple of years and still hold you are long-term sufferer. But you also must understand the averaging effect and its true worth. This is an ideal time to aggressively average in, but do it over the course of the next month.
Tax loss selling can lead to some weakness in many small stocks,
maybe the worst was in Oct. maybe not. But I think this co. doesn't go away without a successful buyout from these prices.

They had 30% unit sales increase in HDSL and cost-cutting should abate now, plus ADSL has to deploy in '99 for the RBOCs to save their souls in the next millenium.

When I see this one trade at 2 to 3 times book and ROE near 20%, it's a buy not a sell. If they are successful, this will be a 10 bagger in 5 yrs., if not they get bought at a premium.

So if you bought in the 20's and some here and there down here, you can make a good play for next year. It is tough to get caught, but in this market, things can turnaround. ( e.g. CLFY triples in one month).

I am sure we can revisit this post next year for the CROW meal if necessary, ( but I am hopeful, I won't have to find a good recipe!).
