There's still another very interesting and exciting aspect of the fork I've never mentioned yet, but you can see it in action on the chart that Frank posted.

Here's how: On the first larger fork, if you measure the distance from the low made prior to the all time high (the point from where the center line is first drawn), to the point of bisect and then count that same distance forward in time, you'll see that there is likely a market turn or violent reaction at that time period. In this case, the second low of the SP occurred in that time frame if not on that very day.

Let me know if I confused you. This method gives you a future time frame in which to expect some turning point, especially if it occurs when the lines are touched by price as the SP's did in this example.
