Scott,

At the end of this up trend. On the 30' ch, I might guess that this is an exhaustion gap as trapped shorts finally capitualate.

Close at upper end of bar.. open below middle, and at end of up move

Common gap = Open, close equal after no real trend. will be filled.

Breakaway gap= Start of new trend when open, close equal but both at END of bar in direction of move

Morning Scott--

Access to SI is better this am but I am busy with other matters and so will not be available through much of the day.

I did not short the gap today mainly because it was well over the resistance that had been holding it down. It does look like it is tiring a bit right now and a short may be in order at about the 65 level with a view to picking up about 5 points -- though a safer trade would be to go long if it pulls back somewhat to the 59-60 level.

Options expiration complicates matters
