Maybe I should do a similar job on the antiquated old rule about not ending a sentence with a preposition.

That should be fun and informative. I think it might have been Churchill, who when criticized for this "infraction", said:

"That is a situation up with which I will not put!" Clever man.

On the other side of the same coin, we are nowadays forced to suffer the ubiquitous "where is he at?" God help us.

Other shudder-producing language barbarisms include, just to start:

"Lay down a while and rest."

"Why don't you come to dinner with my wife and I?"

I can't go on.
