*He's respected by the French, who are charmed by his decadent sex life.;-)

News hounds and Francophiles might recall the minor controversy when Mitterand's wife and mistress managed a joint appearance at his funeral. Viva le difference!

P.S. I would love it if I received a real reply rather than a zippy one liner.

Good luck on that one, wrt the poster you addressed anyway. Wrt me too, I guess, this post is close enough to a one liner.

Cheers, Dan.

while you were on line reading, did you read usa today and the dozens and dozens of other us newspapers that called for clinton to resign. even the ultra-liberal palm beach post asked him to step down.
i don't care what the french think(do they have indoor plumbing yet?).
clinton is an immoral bozo. i have quit the democrat party because they selected him as their leader and then gave him to us. the dems gave us an 8 year plague and refuse to acknowledge the mistake.

while i'm here!! clinton's last selection as secdef (secretary of defense aspin) resigned in disgrace after putting our troops in a slaughter in africa without the means to defend themselves. well my friend clinton gave us aspin and that blood is on his hands too, disgraceful. his latest selection as secdef stated a coupla weeks ago that clinton's problems were not affecting military moral. ya, he's really in touch. everyone around clinton is under indictment or investigation or already in jail. the few good guys he had have already quit his staff.
not only is clinton a bozo, he surrounds himself with incompetent idiots.the statements they make are absolutely an insult to my intelligence.
the dems are giving you the mushroom treatment. they keep you in the dark and feed you bullshit. don't swallow it.
ps. does this meet your test for a real reply?

Well, your experience is the direct opposite of mine. Since the Monica scandal broke, I have visited London, Paris, Geneva, Berlin, Frankfurt and Amsterdam for business. While you are right about Clinton's support in the liberal press and in political circles, you are wrong about the man-on-the-street support. Europeans generally consider his finger wagging lie a disgrace. It's not the fact that he fooled around on his wife that bothers people. It's how he handled the truth and manipulated the justice system that riles people.

I've asked business associates, taxi drivers, restaurant and hotel workers and others I've come across, and they all tell me any European leader would have resigned under similar circumstances. It is "the honorable thing to do" is what I'm told.

Mr. Clinton enjoys, inexplicably, continued high job approval ratings. Despite the many failures of his ad hoc foreign policy, failed health care scheme, etc. I also continue to enjoy the fact that a significant majority of people who I talk to, deal with etc., and who are polled acknowledge that Clinton is a liar and not trustworthy. Unfortunately, as the editorial in the WSJ stated the other day, it seems our morals are in our wallets. Given that a significant majority of Americans believe our President is a liar and is not trustworthy, he IS a National Embarrassment. I would submit to you that the exact percentage of persons who agree with me is irrelevant in any event. It is a National Embarrassment to have a liar, perjurer, obstructer and serial adulterer who has such an affinity with situational ethics in the WH. We should all demand better. JLA

PS I would also note that my experience overseas is similar to Mr. Vaughn's and I find Clinton is not well liked or respected in Asia in particular.

I am in touch with a number of foreign residents and they strongly disagree with your comments about clinton.

Here's another one-liner for ya':

Did you just overlook the post... or, were the points I was attempting to make so far below your intellectual level that you chose to ignore them?
