Joan, the case was dismissed.

Now clearly Bill Clinton lied to the court, he had his subordinates lie, and he filed a false affidavit. Surely you must see that to now say that since the case was dismissed, it somehow give credence to the idea that Clinton should not be held accountable for his fraudulent acts. The idea is ludicrous. That is precisely why we have perjury laws, they are the only instrument we have to instill a certain amount of "fear" of lying and it's consequences in our judicial system. I suppose we will never know whether the case would have been dismissed or not had the Lewinsky false affidavit not been admitted and Clinton had answered the questions put to him honestly.

The Scaife business, Paula Jones political leanings, the "evil" Linda Tripp are completely irrelevant to the core issue of whether of not Bill Clinton sexually harassed one Paula Corbin Jones in that Little Rock hotel. My point is that we have a system of justice to ferret out the facts and make a judgement. Bill Clinton subverted that process by his actions. Now we are left with the question, what do we do about this now? Ignore it? Rationalize it? Or God forbid, hold the POTUS to the same legal standard as Joe Sixpack.

I maintain that in order to preserve even a semblance of the blind justice that we hold out as such a model to the world, this President should have to answer for his illegal conduct.
