Whole point of the progressive gas guzzler tax is to try to fit vehicle usage with rational consumption. since trucks [over-the-road] trucks make efficient use of fuel, there is no need to increase tax on such consumption since the tax would be passed on to consumers and no fuel efficency would ensue. The point is to get me out of my gas hog Montero and into a more rational vehicle of lighter weight that matches my normal usage...Since I have bought the Montero there has not been a single instance where I NEEDED the 4 wheel drive and 90% of my usage is me driving alone...Do I need such a vehicle or is it a waste?
