Isn't it interesting that what I said about sofware hampering hardware is also mentioned in this article? The lack of hard real time processing in WinCE is well documented. However, this is not the only OS targeted at this consumer level. I have mentioned the Ericsson/Nokia/Psion OS previously which, based on Psion's existing OS looks very promising. What I said about the penetration of classic PCs is also echoed in the article. To get the same penetration as telephones or TVs my mother has to be able to use the thing, no matter how cheap it is.
