Steve, reading your post, all I could think was that they must be chips off the old block, just exhibiting risk-taking behavior at an early age. I wonder what your mother thinks about her son kayaking over rapids full of rocks? They'll be hang-gliding, rappelling, bungee-jumping, snowboarding, and spelunking before you know it. Free diving with sharks. Sailing alone around the world, scuba diving off Australia, sending back postcards from the edge. Think your heart can take it?
