I think there could be an alliance here. AOL does use AT&T for their long-distance carrier and does not have their own network. I would hope that this merger will help the Qwest stock today.

Their long lines are provided by ANS, which it sold to Worldcom. They have their own local POPs, supplemented by those provided by ANS. It's entirely possible that some of the bandwidth comes from QWST.
