Me thinks that's a subjective opinion. There's good argument and detailed analysis that support both camps.

IMO?
It's pretty muck a draw. It's likely that the average Home theater consumer can't discern the difference anyway.

However, I personally would pick a monitor that can do both. As I would prefer to see the vidoe at the authored format and have some engineer decide the target format for me.
My preference would be the Plasma display, but I will hold off until it supports all the formats.

1080i != 1080 lines.

It's 1400 x 700 lines at best. At least, that's what the bitstreams show.

I too can make video with superhigh resolution, but stuff only a few harmonics.
