Do I sense that you and your poster are saying that we should back away from the rule of law "when it may be embarrassing"?

George, I can't speak for the poster. But where I am concerned, I did say I was of two minds about the whole thing.

No doubt I should not have cited that particular post. (I stumbled across it when I was doing a "perjury" search.) I just did not have the time to summarize all the anti-impeachment arguments myself. Some are better than others.

To proceed:

We are not just talking about "super-sophisticated" Europeans here. We are talking Asians, Africans, and Latin Americans as well. Insofar as their attitudes on this particular question may affect their attitude towards the United States generally and towards U.S. foreign policy in particular, I can see the case for paying at least some attention to them.
