You likely had an option on the cash market, not the futures. A futures option would be on a particular month, March, June, September, or December only.

In that case, most definitely I was trading the cash options. However, if you look at the option prices (the SPX) you'll find they move with the futures price. You can pick any random point in the day and you'll see the bid/asks moving, along with PREM, even though the index is just sitting there.

Thanks for the TYX info, though. Didn't realise they had options on that too. I've only recently started trading the US....
