Dale:

You may be right. One unit in our office just switched from SUN to DELL (including maintenance service), and they are very happy.

Dear Dale:

You state:
> Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

Ouch, that must have hurt you badly! Hope you recover soon. By looking at SUNW shares I can see how badly you mush have hurt yoruself as a short. Like I said I hope you re-cover soon!!

You state:
> What is going to happen when MSFT releases Windows 2000?

Well, most likely MSFT shares will go higher, SUNW shares will have an even more jump, and both camps will propser. One thing you want to remember though, when it comes to internet computing Microsoft is now nothing but a subsidiary of Sun Microsystems whose job is to push Sun's internet technology. In the process of doing so the subsidiary will indeed make a lot of money, however ultimately the parent company will be the big gainer.

You state:
> Why do you guys think Scotty spends most of his time bashing Bill Gates?

Well, for one thing it is always fun to make fun of a "paranoid" who no longer is in touch with reality or is capable of "stealing" the visions of its competitors to build on in order to grow, and second of all "Scotty" has not yet even started to have fun with Bill. Wait till the real fun begins in about 6 month or so.

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi

P.S - By the way, do not take me wrong I am both a MSFT as well as SUNW share holder, although I am more invested in SUNW at this time than MSFT.

"...Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall."

With a market cap of over 300 billion - your analogy is equivalent to Microsoft falling off a skyscraper while with a market cap of 28 billion Sun would be falling off the curb. Microsofts earnings are also of questionable quality as has recently been disclosed and unless you think Microsoft could sport a market cap of $600 billion in its saturated marketplace - they will actually be forced to pay their employees a salary vs. stock options - microsoft after all isnt Yahoo.

"..What is going to happen when the PC makers release 4 way and 8 way Xeon
servers in large volume? What is going to happen when MSFT releases Windows
2000? What is going to happen when the remaining anti-microsoft crowd rally
behind Linux?"

then youll have 4 and 8 way IA-32 based file and print servers in a bandwidth hungry world capable of running an unreliable operating system - which should be available in its 32 bit glory sometimer er, um...in the future. This is not an insignificant market - Should keep Bill in pocket protectors for a couple more years while the landscape shifts into Java, Jini and bigger - more capable servers serving smart applicances.
