I saw Jini in action at the shareholders' meeting. It was VERY cool. Furthermore, it was robust. Fortuitously, one of the shareholders watching the demo knocked over a placard, which landed on the power switch, which powered everything down (shades of Rube Goldberg); when the power was turned back on all the devices reestablished communication with one another and proceeded as if nothing had happened. Totally unscripted.

This will be big, IMHO.

All JMHO.

Microsofts earnings are also of questionable quality as has recently been disclosed and unless you think Microsoft

If you are referring to the lack of accounting of stock options on the P & L, then I agree with you. But this ploy is not exclusive to MSFT.
SUNW, INTC and many, many more companies are guilty. The FASB tried take action, but the attempt was stymied by politics. If this continues much longer the entire stock market might just turn into a big ponzi scheme.

while the landscape shifts into Java, Jini and bigger - more capable servers serving smart applicances.

Jini, Java, and Java Daba Daba Doba. What is all this talk about Java. Do you know what Gates said about Java? He said it is just another programming language, and it is not a very good programming language at that. What about Corel? Didn't they rewrite their Corel Office in Java? What happen? I will tell you what happen. Nothing. It didn't change anything for Corel.
