Sun - you said "If you want, I will help you out in your stock picking quest by discussing what things I think you should look for and how draw your attention to points that you may not be looking at."

OK - in regards to your list - what I am looking for is companies that can steadily grow better than the S&P 500 with a minimum of risk and a minimum of dramatic price swings. Also, I like tech stocks because I can understand them better then I can understand most other markets.

SO, looking over your list, some things caught my eye. AKLM - the game software company? Wow - that strikes me as a risky play - good products though. And COMS - 3COM - what do you think they have to offer that CSCO doesn't (in terms of growth prospects)? NOVL - that one I agree with, nice pick. ORCL - hmmm, if they really focus on their core business again that could be a good pick. But Ellison seems to have a way of getting preoccupied with other things...Your other picks I don't know too much about. I'm going to have to look at them closely. Nice job putting this list together. Thanks for the info.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Sun Tzu get's something very nice to give thanks for. For starters, Prudential upgrades VISX and the stock is now at $70 making Sun Tzu, who bought it at 50 and sold options for another 7 a happy man. Secondly, the bet on NOVL paid off and those 40 call contracts on Novel, that were later augmented by another 40 contracts today, will bring about 100~150% returns. More joy! Now I was going to buy some TDFX at 12.5 yesterday, on the grounds that if I understand the trade, 12.5 is as low as it should go and if it goes any lower, I'll be dropping it, but I decided that risk/reward ratio was in favor of VISX and NOVL instead. Add to this great day, a very unexpected surprise (as if surprises are ever to be expected ;). That someone whose been following my trades for the past few months, asked me if I'm interested in managing a 100k for his pension fund. It is not a lot of money, but then again the compensation is very good and I'll be buying and selling the same things that I already do, so there is no extra work involved for me. All in all this has been a great day. Do wish me luck; one can never have enough of it.

At times like this I try to think of things that would make me humble, and God knows I there is a lot for me to be humble about. A most recent one is a list of 30 picks that I posted yesterday on AoI, and 3 out of the 4 stocks in that list went down today. O'well, like I said, I am not invested in any of them, but I'm considering them. First order of the day tomorrow is going to be adding to my VISX and NOVL positions.

Sun Tzu, I know that you have a interest in TDFX, but how does ATY.to (ATYTF on Nasdaq) stack up in your scoring algorithms?

Hi Sun & All,

I entered the STIA in a public portfolio for easy reference. The purchase price is the price listed in your message and the shares held is the weight.
