That's good news. The price reduction on the Ultra2 SCSIs (80MB/s) is timely, I think. The Ultra2 has been on the market for about 10 months, and if the drive manufacturers have indeed ramped up Ultra2 SCSI drive production, sales of the card could now go into high volume. As of several months ago, I think Ultra2 SCSI sales represented only about 10 percent of Adaptec's SCSI revenues. At least that's my recollection.

The price reductions could also presage announcement of a production date for the Ultra3 SCSI (160 MB/s) card demonstrated at Comdex a couple weeks ago.

In the so-what category, Adaptec also significantly revamped its web site today.

Cheers,

Starowl
