Yes, "syncing up" will be an increasingly heard word as the PC-like devices proliferate. I agree, each home should have at least one networked to other "dumb" terminals in the house.

Not really, but getting pretty close to being ready for prime time. The cable modem gives Mega band into the home which "enables" the VOD and interactive media and the like.
That's the reason AT&T shelled out bigtime last year for TCI. They knew that they couldn't win against cable's pipes. The cable modem is the enabler for the STBs(set-top boxes) that will be on sale everywhere soon. STBs will offer a great deal of content that is considered interactive.
