STAK - re: "The cable modem is the enabler for the STBs(set-top boxes) that will be on sale everywhere soon." These STB's have been becoming available "soon" for the last 6 years. Just how much longer will this "soon" take? Paul

<That's the reason AT&T shelled out bigtime last year for TCI. They knew that they couldn't win against cable's pipes. The cable modem is the enabler for the STBs(set-top boxes) that will be on sale everywhere soon. STBs will offer a great deal of content that is considered interactive.> Unless the cable companies get off their collective butts and eliminate the weaknesses of the cable modem, I sure wouldn't put my money on cable-based set-top boxes.
