This attitude must not sit well with the European Brethren of the NA GSM Alliance.

Addtional thought. Multiple standards, from the GSM alliance view, could really mean--we want to keep our monopoly in Europe and be able to compete in the U.S. and elsewhere in other platforms. That way, we can gain the advantages of high production and low cost in our protected market that gives us an advantage in the U.S., because the other platforms won't have the manufacturing cost advantage. In other words, multiple standards continues the same situation off which they are making tons of money, now.
