Dow Jones picks up NN C&W announcement: <<< November 24, 1998 <Picture> Dow Jones Newswires Newbridge Gets Cable & Wireless ATM Network Pact Dow Jones Newswires KANATA, Ont. -- Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN) said it will provide a high-capacity, multi-service, multi-access asynchronous transfer mode network infrastructure for the initial stage of Cable & Wireless PLC (CWP). The value of the agreement wasn't disclosed. In a news release, Newbridge said the fully managed network infrastructure will span 40 cities in 13 countries, enabling Cable & Wireless to offer carriers and corporate customers highly competitive, advanced communications services across mainland Europe. Cable & Wireless' full European network is valued at $1 billion. The company said the new European ATM infrastructure consists of the Siemens/Newbridge MainStreetXpress 36170 MultiServices Switch and the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager. Cable & Wireless provides integrated communications. Newbridge makes networking solutions.<<<
