Y'all may want to read WSJ article today "Hedge Funds Anticipate Withdrawals" page C1. even though they've been building substantive cash, the market has continued upward. doubtful, though, that would continue if everything in this article is played out. it makes sense; but overall hedge fund dollars vs. total market isn't significant. it's the methods by which they raise cash which which is significant.

Dell leader in PCs for U.S. business
ROUND ROCK, Texas (Reuters) - Dell Computer Corp. was the No. 1 provider of computers to U.S. businesses during the third quarter this year, according to a report.

The Ziff-Davis Market Intelligence study said Dell, which also holds the title as the world's leading direct seller of computers, had the highest market share in the large business segment with 29.8 percent, compared to its nearest competitor with 23.6 percent for the quarter.

''Dell is making dramatic gains in the very spot where its indirect competitors initially fostered their respective businesses -- the large commercial business segment,'' said Matt Sargent, senior industry analyst with ZD Market Intelligence. ''The study showed that Dell is making sizeable gains in the installed base of the enterprise marketplace beyond its traditional large government and educational strongholds.''

Dell (Nasdaq: DELL - news), which is also the fourth-largest computer maker, credited its product lineup and service and support capabilities for its latest title award.

The Ziff-Davis study was based on results from several thousand interviews with businesses and governmental and educational institutions about their hardware and software purchases made during the prior 90 days.

In separate news Tuesday, Dell announced a three-year deal worth an estimated $75 million as Mobil Corp. (NYSE:MOB - news)'s standard supplier for desktops, notebooks and servers worldwide.
