Hi Cobalt,

>> You know the formula for calculating value? <<

I don't think there is one; I've been looking for formal mathematical equation for evaluating stocks for last 5 years and found nothing other than some bizarre first order equations that can not be mathematically validated.

However, there are software that keep track of your portfolio status; My Quick & Reilly account provides this feature for free, Schwab also provides same information and I believe most of on-line brokerage account have similar software. If you prefer to have your own software in your system try Quicken (the TurboTax company), they have various accounting software.

BTW, Someone in this thread once asked me to keep track of local individual investor behavior. Well, the sample count on this subject is very low (less than 20) but I did find some change in the attitudes of people who hang around the brokerage houses here in Silicon Valley. Many of them are planning to sell when the market hit 10000; some are planning to sell at beginning of January. What's interesting is that these people do not really sell, they just set some selling conditions when they feel less bullish. When the “selling conditions” do occur, they usually are feeling more bullish and decide simply to hang onto the stocks.

P.S. >> FWIW, I cashed out a bunch of stuff first this morning. << If you don't mind my asking, why did you choose today to cash out?
