After further review I think you're absolutely right. It is amazing that they would opt for the NN switch instead of the CBX... It's been my experience that mixing vendor's equipment and vendor technicians in sizeable deployments is almost always problematic. It'll be interesting to see how this network rolls out and how well ASND and NN can defend their flanks while focusing so much resource on such a signficant network and opportunity.

I bet Newbridge put in deep discounts to win this portion of the deal. The portion of the contract won by Ascend is probably more profitable.

Except for performance, ATM cores are functionally interchangeable. The Chinese probably looked at this function as a commodity, and went with the lowest-priced bid.
