A thought concerning Christ's return. He will not return in the year 2000 or anywhere close to it. "For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so I, the Son of Man, will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights." (Mat 12:40 NLT) "But you must not forget, dear friends, that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day." (2 Pet 3:8 NLT) Drawing a parallel(type, shadow) to the 3 days in the grave and using each day that He was gone as a thousand years, I present the thought that the Lord might return somewhere around the year 3036. By this time He will have been fully discredited on earth, the antichrist will have risen to his fullness, and the Gospel will have been preached to all nations in their own tongue, and signs and wonders will have been performed in the sky. Realizing the Words of our Lord that no man knows only the Father, I present this idea to you as something to think about. ""When the Son of Man returns, the world will be like the people were in Noah's day." (Luke 17:26 NLT) "In those days before the flood, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came to destroy them all." (Luke 17:27 NLT) ""And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business--eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building--" (Luke 17:28 NLT) "until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all." (Luke 17:29 NLT) "Yes, it will be 'business as usual' right up to the hour when the Son of Man returns." (Luke 17:30 NLT) "I tell you the truth, this generation[1] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened." (Mat 24:34 NIV) 1 "generation": Or "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." (Mat 24:35 NIV) ""No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (Mat 24:36 NIV) "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." (Mat 24:37 NIV) "For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;" (Mat 24:38 NIV) "and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." (Mat 24:39 NIV) David
