Hubert, <<If one is so connected with god, why does one need the owner's manual at all?>> Humans are so prone to making mistakes. Christians are also prone to mistakes. The Word of God is given to us so we have it to guide us. The principles set down in the bible cannot be contradicted by any "revelation" that a christian may claim is from the Holy Spirit. For example; we are told to turn the other cheek, love one another, give the shirt off our back. So if some "zealots" say they are killing "infidels" in service to God we know they are deceived and are not serving God at all because the revelation they are claiming to have received contradicts the Word of God.
