The reason that Ballard gets so much attention, IMO, is because of the enormous potential for the fuel cell. But the Ballard approach appears to be no different from any would be home run hitter; always swinging for the long ball leads to many strike outs. Ballard will survive, but their over inflated market cap will indeed burst. On the opposite end of the spectrum is DCH Technology, (DCHT). They are developing the smaller fuel cells for the consumer, in the 50 to 100 watt range. There is more likely a larger market for local power than for buses and autos; at least in the near term. When the consumer is actually using fuel cells to power their home electric devices, they will eventually be able to unplug from their local power grid.The DCHT PEM Fuel Cell is being developed in partnership with Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Dept. of Energy dch-technology.com The small consumer oriented fuel cell is the area that is overlooked IMO, dch-technology.com For more information try DCHTinvest@aol.com
