I did not mean to be offensive of your post, and if you perceived it as such I apologize. There are thousands of posts with regards to unhappy events with online brokers. I certainly do not mean to imply that Datek is perfect. It has always been a problem with them at the open. I very seldom have need to trade at the open, for that is not my style. I have little problems at the market close with them. I have used at least 5 other brokers. At the present I also use Waterhouse. They are near impossible to trade with, and they are rated one of the top brokers. Their servers are dependable in the fact that you can pretty well bet they will be down when you most need them. My judgment of all the online brokers therefore, has been tempered some what by their relative comparisons to each other, the different needs of the customer, and the current state of the technoligy. I have yet to find a perfect one. Many of the posts concerning problems, look like accidents waiting to happen. Spelling and grammer errors etc. How some of these could ever type in an order correctly, without problems, puzzles me. I catch myself making mistakes, so I am not faultless. I do however realize when it is my error. Many do not, and tend to blame the broker. In my opinion, any one who is a scalping daytrader should look to the brokers who specialize in these types of trades. The brokers who specialize in these trades are not IMO the Dateks, Ameritrades, Webstreets, Etrades etc. First of all, no level 11 quotes, and no provided software etc. So I therefore must compare apples to apples, so to speak. On the other hand, however, for the average short term position trader I find Datek above most of its competition. This is from my own experience, and that is what I put most credence in.
