rarebird,>>I did mention to Fred ( and a few other people )
after the surprise second interest rate cut that I thought that the indexes would hit new marginal highs. <<
that second rate drop took me by surprise coming so quickly after the first. why not one drop of 50 basis points instead of 2 back to back drops? i've never seen 2 drops so closely timed, was there any meaning to the second drop coming so fsat after the first?

>>I am extremely Bearish for 1999. We are in the midst of the most widely speculative blow-off in the history of the U.S. Stock Market. I have no idea when this blow-off will end. But when it does, watch out below. What took place last summer is an omen and preview for 99.<<
could you give us a very short recap of what exactly happened last summer before the interet rate drops saved the market?

>>It is a speculative blow-off, Stak. Even 12,000 is possible here. Interest Rate Cuts are extremely bullish for the stock market. The question is whether they will help corporate earnings. My answer is no. I expect Brazil to default on their debt in 99, setting off a
whole Latin American debacle, similar to Asia. I feel we will break considerably below 7400 in 1999.<<

ok so a default by brazil is a'trigger' for the market to fall well past 7400? doesn't it usually take more than one factor to trip up a bull like this one?
you mention rate cuts being extremely bullish, but thats a doubled -edged sword. do you see a rate increase as being a catalyst for the market drop????-- ah, ok i see in your next paragraph that you see more rate drops. never mind . >>I think Greenspam will continue to lower rates aggressively.<<

i predicted the market would fall to 5600 a few months ago becuase of what i've heard friends from hong kong say about the situation there. i was totally off to say the least.

rarebird, >>Cube: I'm watching Cube very closely here. I expect to see 35-36 soon. I will be watching for some churning before I enter my short position. I'll be sure to let you all know when I enter my short position.<<

a few years ago i came onto this thread and said that i felt that cube would fall from the low 40's back down to the teens for blah-blah reasons. a lot of folks didn't like hearing(reading) that and i took a lot of flak.
i don't really see the point of rubbin people's noses in it. Altho' i might be tempted if andy was still here ;-0

my question is: cube is at $28 today and you think it'll go to 35-36
soon. why not take the 30% on the upside and walk away instead of waiting for it to go to 35-36 and then shorting it from there?

so why not take the 30% and 'go with the flow' as fred says and be one of the 'longs'. i find it hard to believe that you just wanna rub salt in others wounds...

rare, i'm happy for you and especially your kids! sounds like santa came early this year. dvd is something on the pc huh. do you have hi-perf speakers too?
i've got the aptiva p450 with dvd. beautiful unit. i've only watched one james bond dvd on it. i have to suffer with a 17 inch screen:(.

strangely enough. although i've been a long time proponent of going with a top-end pc. i've lent the se7 to a friend. why? because i have a p133 with a cable modem and the se7 has only a pots modem. i spend most of the time on the net so, as nice as the se7 is and all, the p133 is much, much better for most of my current needs. the bandwidth far outweighs the benefits of extra processor speed...

>> I now send Voice E-Mail messages<<

which software do you use to voice e-mail? is it really hi quality sound? what size are the voice files? so what do you think of it?
ready for prime time?

>> Netscape had no choice but to sell out. I wonder how wise it was for AOL to buy Netscape? <<

i wouldn't have done the deal if it was me. it doesn't make sense to me. sun's end of it sounds much better. aol's biggest problem is bandwidth, that's why i quit to go with @Home quite awhile ago. why did netscape have no choice but to sell-out?

>> Why would anyone in their right mind use Netscape with Windows 98? It's clearly an inferior browser. <<

i use communicator with win95 and am very happy with it. when i get back to win98 i'll give ie a good workout.

ps, 3 dells man i hope you're on intel's and dell's christmas card list <g>
