What I've been scratching my head about, is how XYBR could garner 35 million in revenues for the fourth quarter when the total for the previous nine months has only been $617,743.

My guess is they must have a very sizable number of paid up orders awaiting manufacture and shipping. You'd think the stock would be sailing upward and some analyst would be following it. I am not sure why, but this is not happening.

"[Current prices] make wearable PCs impractical for many businesses purposes," said Kevin Baradet, network technology
director with Cornell University.

This statement doesn't seem to jive with $35,000,000 in revenues being reported.

Re: Revenue confusion

I think there's some sort of misunderstanding on the revenue figures you're quoting. The $35 million figure comes from an article reported in TheStreet.com on November 16th. The speaker was Dr. Bergman (not Steve Newman) and the figure was guidance for 1999 revenues, not 4Q98 revenues.

The original TSC article can be found at archive.thestreet.com for TSC subscribers. For non-subscribers, here's the relevant excerpt:

Xybernaut's Mobile Assistant IV is a two-piece wonder: A portable, two-pound computer that can be worn around the waist, with a headset that has a screen so the user can navigate the Web either by mouse or by voice. MA IV, which the company will unveil this week at the COMDEX trade show in Las Vegas, will create a revenue surge, Xybernaut's director of investor relations Mark Bergman said.

The Fairfax, Va.-based company expects 1999 revenues to come in between $30 million and $40 million.

"That's a conservative estimate, too," Bergman told a room of money managers. "Internally, management is expecting something closer to about $90 million, but those are the guidance numbers we're giving to the Street."

Hope this helps clear up the confusion and put this question to rest.
