Thanks rudedog;

I appreciate your comment about SUNW. That's the exact reason that I switched from SUNW to DELL two years ago, and I couldn't be happier. Now that I am considering to lighten up some DELL, do you have any good suggestions? I already have AOL, LU, CSCO, MSFT, DELL and YHOO. I sold out all my INTC about two month ago to switch to YHOO. Is it time to get back to INTC. Thanks. B.J.

But SUNW does not have any way to benefit directly from internet activities, unless one assumes that sales of servers to internet companies will somehow fuel growth. I also do not see big revenue potential for the work they are doing with AOL since SUNW has no real capability in low cost consumer products, which is the likely hardware play out of the AOL deal.

Im very glad to hear someone who understands microprocessors, operating systems etc acknowledge this. My question for you is can you think of anything that Suns internet activities (which I still see as primarily Java) can do for unix or linux which would make unix preferable as an operating system for the internet over NT, as either a server or workstation. I understand unix is like SQL in that standards need to be adhered to and vendors cant just rewrite the thing on the fly - but maybe some kind of extension, is that possible? I dont know. There is also a lot of interest in linux these days.

I have to admit NT has a few weaknesses right now that could be exploited if the unix people were on their toes. its hard to make it work in the enterprise.
