I did do some editing (during the 15 minutes allowed by SI) to my original post #922, so I'm wondering if you tried the second suggestion I added at the bottom of the post.

I'll be honest with you, I can hardly remember anything about Win 3.1 so it's hard for me to think in those terms.

In Win95 it's certainly preferable to do an un-install and re-install, assuming you have the original install file for your copy of Communicator.

Either way, un-install/re-install or delete/restore, the plan you outlined to save plugins and mail should work.

Other things to consider saving are your bookmarks and address book (very important to most people), and if you don't want to re-do them all, maybe your newsgroups and preferences as well. Of course the more things you copy off and copy back after the restore, the higher the chances that one of the files you copy back is the corrupt one that is causing your problems. You can't win :(

Good Luck. If you still have problems you may wish to go to the Netscape Unofficial FAQ site, ufaq.org and get the pointers to their support news-groups. They have some very knowledgeable people providing all kinds of help in those groups.
