Saying that the transaction would be "lost" was probably thrown in for the scare value.

It was Woodward and another guy with him that "corrected" the Cap Gemini employee to say, emphatically, the transaction would be "deleted". Yes, I also found that quite odd. Perhaps all legal transactions are applied (copied) to various accounts and then all the (original) transactions are deleted (?) Still, I always tell people that half of any good program is error checking and deleting anything automatically because it doesn't conform as seemed to be the case here is simply bad programming.
