Larry: There's a difference between programming and program design.

The designer decides what a program should do. The programmer makes the computer do what the designer decided.

If a programmer makes a mistake and consequently the program doesn't do what the designer decided, it's called a "bug". You fix it by changing a few lines of code.

If the designer screwed up by not appropriately handling the "invalid transaction" situation, it's called a "design flaw". You fix it by adding a new feature.

It takes a whole lot more effort to fix a "design flaw" than it does to fix a "bug".

Of course, the teller at the bank just blames it on the computer.
