Colin, I am not trying to insult you...just pointing out that all is not black or white in that statements may not all look the same. There are no additional digits on the confirmations (I had already examined those as well) on either the "regular" account or the "IRA" account for Merrill. Perhaps the "dummied down" statement for the regular account contains info for BOTH holdings, type 1 & 2. The point being that not every investor will actually SEE from their statements that the accounts are actually separated. I am not saying you are wrong....just that what is visible on a given brokerage house's statement to everyone reading this thread may or may not be as you imply. I'll email my broker, and "report back" as you suggest!!!!!!!
