Yousef, Intel won't have any competition during '99 in the server market I think that Sun might sell a few servers during 99 too. ;^) Maybe K7 will provide some competition in the x86 server business next year? Scumbria

Yousef, would you consider a 1 GHz Alpha chip to be a worthy competitor to Intel in the high-margin server marketplace? Considering that Intel won't get above 600 MHz and they won't have anything comparable to the Alpha bus in '99, maybe I should reverse the question. If Compaq has its way, we could see multi-processor, Alpha-upgradable K7 systems next year (the ultimate Windows 2000 power-user system!) Any idea how Intel will compete with that level of scalability? Craig response to: "since Intel won't have any competition during '99 in the server market, .."
